This page mixes two very different kinds of tool, and it is worth knowing which is which before you rely on an answer. The material, sizing and measurement calculators do real arithmetic you could check by hand. The novelty ones — love score, zodiac, numerology — are entertainment. They are deterministic, so the same inputs always give the same output, but nothing about them is predictive and no result should influence a decision.
The landscaping tools are the clearest example of genuine arithmetic. Gravel, mulch and topsoil are sold by the cubic yard, but you measure a project in feet and inches, so the conversion is where people go wrong: a 20 ft × 10 ft bed at 4 inches deep is 20 × 10 × (4 ÷ 12) = 66.67 cubic feet, and dividing by 27 gives 2.47 cubic yards. Order 2.5 and you have a little slack. Weight is a separate question — at roughly 1.4 tons per cubic yard that same order is about 3.5 tons, which matters far more for delivery than for cost.
Sizing tools work on rules of thumb rather than exact laws, and they are honest about it. Air conditioning is commonly sized at about 20 BTU per square foot, so a 500 sq ft room lands near a 10,000 BTU unit — a starting point that ceiling height, insulation, window area and climate all move. Flooring works the same way: a 14 ft × 16 ft room is 224 square feet, and you order about 10% more for offcuts and pattern matching, so roughly 246 square feet.
A few tools here quietly replace bad folklore with better maths. Dog age is the clearest case: the familiar "multiply by seven" puts a five-year-old dog at 35, while the 2019 epigenetic study gives 16 × ln(5) + 31 ≈ 57 — a curve that ages fast early and slows down, which matches how dogs actually age. The pizza calculator settles a similar argument with geometry, since area scales with the square of the radius: two 12-inch pizzas give 226 square inches against 201 for a single 16-inch, so the two smaller pizzas win, and one 16-inch still holds 78% more than one 12-inch.
